Electron microscope picture of the Lambda bacteriophage.
On the left is an icosahedral head and extending to the
right is a ribbed tail that comes a point in the last 6
ribs. A man sits at a table holding a knife and fork and
staring puzzled and angrily at a plate that has a lambda
phage on it.

Happy New Year and welcome back to Lambda Lunch for 2021. Webex link
below.

A few items:
 1. No meeting planned for Jan. 14th, in part because of the bacterial
small protein meeting that week. We will plan to review
interesting talks from the meeting (and possibly from the BLAST
meeting) for lambda lunch on the 21^st. If you are attending the
Small Protein meeting, please contact Gigi Storz re talks to
present. For those new to lambda lunch, these will be short (few
minute) summaries of highlights; we'll see how this goes on-line.
 2. Time to nominate speakers for WALS (Wednesday Afternoon Lecture)
for 2021-22; this is NIH-wide lecture series, and particularly for
this year, nominations should be "the best of the best" (see call
for nominations). Send suggestions by Jan. 8^th; we will have
usual lambda lunch voting after that.
 3. Kim Orth will give a WALs and a lambda lunch, end of January. We
will set up meetings with her both Jan. 27^th/28^th. Let me know
if you are interested. Information on meeting with trainees to be
    sent later.
