Lambda Lunch update, 3/6/01

SOME ADVICE (in view of the virus recently sent to members of the Lambda Lunch list):

Antitvirus programs neutralized the virus for many of us.  If you're at the NIH, you can obtain your own antivirus software at http://antivirus.nih.gov/.  You should click on "Shortcut to current client downloads", and download the scanning engine and/or DAT file (= list of virus signatures) appropriate for your computer.  You should update the DAT file at least once a month.

FYI, my antivirus program detected the virus, which it called "W97M/NiceDay.n".

To schedule seminars, contact Susan Gottesman (susang@helix.nih.gov) or Bob Weisberg (rweisberg@nih.gov).

There are two ways to join the mailing list if you're at NIH.  (If you're not at NIH, contact rweisberg@nih.gov to join.)  (1) Send the following message from the computer where you usually receive mail to LISTSERV@LIST.NIH.GOV: SUBSCRIBE LAMBDA_LUNCH-L your name. Replace "your name" by your first and last names.  (2) Go to http://list.nih.gov/.  Browse the lists to find Lambda_Lunch-L.  Follow the instructions to join.

This schedule is also available at http://www.lecb.ncifcrf.gov//lambda.html.

To send a message to Lambda Lunchers, address it to: LAMBDA_LUNCH-L@LIST.NIH.GOV.  (Please use this facility sparingly.)
