The patent describes a method called 'individual information' which allows one to calculate the information for individual DNA, RNA or protein binding sites. There is a corresponding graphic called a 'sequence walker'. The method allows one to measure the sequence conservation of the binding sites. A major use is to analyze Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs - single base changes in the sequence) of RNA splice junctions to determine if they cause genetic diseases. | |
