Testing
Low Altitude Function Tests
The mass characteristics of the Sidewinder allowed initial testing
to be conducted in the upper end model rocket regime. This will be done
using an Aerotech RMS-29/40-120 29mm reloadable motor system with a 29mm
adapter. Tests will first be conducted with F52-5T reloads to check basic
flight characteristics and airworthyness. After disassembly and inspection
of the components more extensive tests will be conducted with G64-7W reloads
and the inspection process continued. These tests do not produce extreme
altitudes (600' and 1200' respectively) making them ideal for small field
tests.
Full Power Tests
Full power tests (and Level I classification flights) will
be made with H73-10J and/or H123-10W reloads in a Aerotech RMS-38/240 38mm
reloadable motor system.
