Digital Photography: Today and Tomorrow
With 10 megapixel CCDs (digital imaging elements) on the horizon, it is easy to predict the downfall of film. CCDs are more light sensitive than film, so a camera with 10 megapixel resolution would be more flexible than a film solution of similar quality (this would correspond to approximately 800 speed film). However it is important to note that most Pro photographers use film of speeds 25 or 50, and to equal the quality possible with such film, digital cameras may potentially need 50 megapixels, or more.
How many pixels are there in a frame of 35mm film?
20 million "quality" pixels in a top-quality 35mm shot.
Digital or 35MM?
