How to Win Over Depression by Tim
LaHaye
Tim goes over some of the symptoms, cycles, causes, and cures
of depression. He reviews the place of anger with regard to depression.
He concludes that the primary cause of depression is self-pity and offers
concrete examples and methods of how to conquer self-pity and depression.
I heartily recommend this book since using his methods in 1975 I got
rid of an ulcer within two weeks that I had had for nine months.
The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman
This book tells how to express heartfelt commitment to your mate.
Dr. Chapman tells how everyone needs to be loved through some variation
of five different methods: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Gifts,
Acts of Service, or Physical Touch. When we don't receive these from
our spouse, we feel unloved. Likewise, if we want our spouse to love
us we must relate to them according to the way they receive love, which
may not necessarily be the way we want to be loved. Relating to others
this way is different than the "in love" experience that people go through
when they get married
Left Behind by Tim LaHaye & Jerry B. Jenkins
This is a series, currently up to 11 books, that tells the stories
of a group of people who were not Christians when Jesus took all the believers
to heaven in the Rapture as mentioned in 1 Thessalonians:
1 Thess 4:13-18
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those
who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will
bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by
the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming
of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the
Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will
rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall
always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
NKJV
After accepting Christ as their Savior they form a "Tribulation Force"
to fight the AntiChrist, and to try to win as many people as possible
to Christ and eternal life.
Left Behind, The Kids by Tim LaHaye & Jerry
B. Jenkins
Adults are not the only ones left behind, kids are also. These
are written at a child's level, and are in smaller, bite size chunks
(i.e. it takes four of the kids books to equal one of the adult Left
Behind books.
Final Gifts by Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelly
This book tells about how to minister to the dying and terminally
ill. It tells about the stages one goes through and how to
make it easier. It tells how you can tell the final signs of dying
and so forth. I recommend it. I learned about it on a pancreatic
cancer discussion group. (I have chronic pancreatitis and was trying to
find out all I could about pancreatic problems since some of the symptoms
are the same.)
Bend in the Road by David Jeremiah
This book by David Jeremiah tells about his life when he found out
he had cancer, fought it into remission, and then had it come back. It
is a great support book for those going through physical problems.
Since most of the Christian Books that I have read may or may
not be in print, I took most of the below from advertisements put out
on current books and materials from Christian bookstores.
