Our Story So Far: The story line, if you have not had time to follow the previous 769 or so entries (!) is my slow realization that earth is being invaded by left handed DNA people ... NOTE: I am currently NOT adding entries with images - too much else to do!! Please enjoy a visit to my web site and read my papers.

1. In the Department of Left Handed Evolutionary Genetics the famous Prof. Dr. Svante Pääbo has discovered that Neandertals had left handed DNA! Folks, this is good news. 2. A new book The Mysterious Epigenome: What Lies Beyond DNA by some IDiots who think that the Flying Spaghetti Monster made everything shows clearly that the DNA that is modified epigenetically becomes left handed. 3. The Scale of the Universe, a beautiful demonstration of the incredibly vast scale of objects in the universe, shows how life on earth has been completely taken over by left handed DNA forms at the scale of 10^-8.2 meters. Bonus Observation! The Alpha Helix at 10^-9.1 meters is left handed but it should be right handed! 5. Amazon Takes Left Handed DNA Genomics Research to the Clouds by Caleb Garling, April 10, 2012, 8:25 am. Finally 1,700 left handed DNA human sequences will be available to everybody! First reported on 2012 Apr 11, as of 2012 Apr 11 (Thanks to Paul Hengen for pointing this one out!)
   
6. Finally!! A Health Care Ad Agency promotes left handed DNA advertising! "An ad agency that knows how to speak Medicalese." First reported on 2012 Apr 11, as of 2012 Apr 11 (Thanks to Fraser Marlow, Fraser.Marlow@BlessingWhite.com, for pointing this one out!)
   
7. Frontiers in Genetics has a left handed DNA on the left side that transforms into a right handed DNA on the right side. These images are copyright of Frontiers.

   2012 Jul 22: They corrected the image with a nice strong and clean DNA!
   
8. Report of an invasion attempt in 1986:

   A few years ago I attended a Mechanisms of Cancer symposium at Cold Spring Harbor Labs, and James Watson stood up for an introduction. He commented that when he was first shown the newly constructed Grace Auditorium in 1986, he immediately noticed that the wall trim was festooned with a left-handed double helix. He insisted that it immediately be torn out and replaced with right handed helix artwork.

11. Scott Higgins reports that

    In the opening sequence of 'Prometheus' there is an implication of a biogenetic event involving alien DNA. Apart from a dodgy double helix, the key point is that the DNA twists in a, you guessed it, left handed helix. Considering that they later make much of the fact that the alien's DNA is a perfect match for human DNA, it provides further 'evidence' of the alien conspiracy to replace all the right-handers!!!

For your first visit to the Left Handed Hall of Fame page I suggest that you follow the story over all of the years. After that you can look at each year individually from the table below. Note: just because a year has gone by does not mean we haven't found more examples for that year!

1997 and 1998 were bumper crop years
and 1999 beat them more than 2 fold. 2000 was a record year, thanks to help from friends around the world (60 of the 97 cases, 63%!). 2001 exceeded even that record! 2002 was lower - are we making headway?
